HKTA/Prince Primary School Mini-Tennis Promotion Scheme Minimize

Introduction

Initiated in 1991, the Primary School Mini Tennis Promotion Scheme continues to be an integral part of the overall junior development framework in Hong Kong. Over time, thousands of primary school students and teachers have benefitted from the scheme.

Mini tennis is an ideal avenue through which tennis, as a sport, can be introduced to youngsters who may lack prior experience and familiarity with the game.

Tennis is great fun – but not if the court is too big, the net too high, the balls too lively, or the racquet too heavy, especially for kids aged 9 or below.

This is where mini tennis comes in.

One of the main objectives of the Scheme is to introduce tennis to children at an early age. The light racquets, foam balls and miniature courts ideally suit the ability and physique of young children, many of whom are learning tennis for the first time. Mini Tennis is not only an enjoyable extra-curricular activity for school children, but it is also an important pathway for talent identification.
